There are certain couples that I think about warmly and often, and Lauren and Evan are one of those couples for me. Spending time with them at their Mount Gulian wedding felt like being wrapped in the excited hug of a loved one after walking through the airport. Their day was effortless, their laughter was infectious, and I’ll never get over the emotions on display on their beautiful wedding day.

THE COUPLE

Lauren and Evan met while in college at SUNY New Paltz, and were together for 11 years before officially tying the knot. They love the same funny shows I love (The Office, Ted Lasso, Schitt’s Creek), and so photographing their day felt like a no brainer - why wouldn’t I want to be surrounded by kindred spirits for a whole wedding day?! They love animals and Mexican food, and honestly felt like the embodiment of dream clients from beginning to end.

THE VENUE

Mount Gulian Historic Site is a gorgeous location for a wedding. The grounds alone are worth booking there, boasting a gorgeous view of the Hudson River from the ceremony site, an ivy-adorned building, and a beautifully-kept garden. The reception space is a real historic Dutch barn, which is unique in its structure, but still works great as a party location.

The grounds at Mount Gulian are open to the public, so you can swing by for a stroll any time.

THE DETAILS

Lauren and Evan chose a navy, burgundy, and gold color scheme for their wedding - a colorscape I’ve always found to be slightly fall-like without being too stereotypical of fall weddings. They decorated their tables with little white pumpkins, as well, breaking up the deeper jewel tones.

My favorite detail of the day was Evan’s dark green suit. It was a perfect color choice, and helped him to stand out in their wedding party portraits. It was also just such a nice color, and one that I don’t see on many grooms, so it was exciting to photograph him in something a little different from the norm.

THE RECEPTION

Lauren and Evan’s dance floor was so packed, I could hardly move - and that’s a good thing! Everyone was dancing to the live music, and so engrossed in the entire celebration in the most incredible way.

Lauren and Evan, it’s so hard for me to describe how truly and wholeheartedly wonderful you are, but suffice it to say that working with you was a highlight of my 2022 season…and still feels like a highlight, two years later.

“This review is long overdue, but it's difficult to find the words to describe just how absolutely AMAZING Erica and the Sweet Alice team are!! It was a bit serendipitous that we found Erica, and we have thanked the universe for it many times. Our only regret is not meeting her sooner!!

From the first meeting we felt a sense of relief and comfort, as she was not only a great guide about the process, but took the time to get to know my husband and I so we felt like friends coming together for a special project! Erica is the most supportive while being responsive, detailed and, of course, taking INCREDIBLE shots. I mean, we were stunned by the sneak peeks!! Her second shooter was also wonderful, and it was clear the two of them had a great, cohesive vision for the day which made everything seamless. Because of them, the day felt so fun and full of laughter. Erica was so encouraging and supportive during photos that one of my bridesmaids jokingly asked her 'Are you a therapist? Because I have never felt so good about myself!'

Our day would not have ever been the same without Erica and her second photographer. When we look at these drop-dead gorgeous photos, we will remember how amazing the day was, but we will also always remember the two of them right there beside us as our hilarious, fun cheerleaders (I'm getting teary just thinking about it).
