Hollow Brook Golf Club Wedding // Olivia + Jack

When I think of quintessential fall in the Hudson Valley, I think of Olivia and Jack’s stunning October wedding day at Hollow Brook Golf Club. The foliage was showing out, the weather was perfection. It felt like a day you could go pumpkin picking…or get married. 😉

THE COUPLE

Spending time with Olivia and Jack just feels happy. They have a beautiful aura about them - happy-go-lucky but realistic; present in the moment but hopeful for the future. They’re incredibly enjoyable people, and witnessing their love felt both exciting and endearing.

THE VENUE

I often joke that Hollow Brook Golf Club is my home away from home…but, honestly and truly, it really does feel that way. I love weddings at Hollow Brook; it’s a venue that just seems to consistently call in couples who are amazing - kind and considerate, fun and fun-loving. Weddings at Hollow Brook feel like the best sort of rustic yet homey party, and all of this is coordinated so well by the incredible staff there.

The most popular location for couple portraits at Hollow Brook is the long bridge that stretches over an expanse of water. For Olivia and Jack’s wedding, we were there at the most perfect time of day for their portraits - the gorgeous lighting and fall foliage really showcased how beautiful the venue grounds really are.

THE DETAILS

Olivia and Jack chose sage, blush, and white as their wedding colors. It was a gorgeous palette that really allowed the foliage that day to take center stage over anything else. While some may not consider sage to be a fall wedding color, I think the photos show that it was an absolutely perfect choice for this October day.

While this is not technically a photographed detail, behind-the-scenes vendor details are just as important as what is showcased as a final product, and so I also want to give a quick little shout out to Ross Media here. When Olivia and Jack’s original videographer backed out only a few days before the wedding, Ross jumped in to help, and was such an incredible asset to the entire day. There are a lot of reasons why Ross is on my preferred vendor list; his willingness to help in unusual circumstances (like when someone else backs out!) is just one of them.

THE RECEPTION

I loved loved loved Olivia and Jack’s reception. The dance floor was PACKED, and they kicked off the celebration with a Polish wedding tradition - their parents presenting special bread and salt to them alongside two shot glasses. The bread represented their parents’ desire for them never to know hunger. The salt represented the fact that sometimes life won’t be sweet, and to weather those times together as a couple. And the shot glasses were filled with clear liquid - one glass held vodka, and the other held water; according to tradition, whoever drank the vodka would have the upper hand in the relationship. Olivia got the vodka. 😉

Olivia and Jack’s October wedding day felt sweet, like apple cider donuts and pumpkin spice lattes. Like everything we hope a fall wedding day will be. It was perfection, simply put.
