Oh, yet another precious couple who had to reschedule their wedding due to the pandemic, but waiting was so worth it.
It rained on Amanda and Jordanβs wedding day at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie, but that rain did nothing to damper the joy that this darling couple felt that day. Weather is the biggest thing you have to release control of when planning a wedding day, and I think you can see that, at the end of the day, even if it pours on your wedding day, the photos are still gorgeous, and all that matters is that you got married, after all.
THE COUPLE
When Amanda and Jordan got married, they had been together for around 8 years. 8 years of making memories, moving, starting new jobs - really, starting a life together. Getting married was just the formality, not the actual truth of the situation. They were already joined at the heart.
When I say this couple is precious, I mean they are precious. They are sweet and endearing, and just love being around each other. They hug a lot, and whisper-talk, and seem so comfortable with each other. They seem like they were made for each other.
A few moments before their ceremony, they signed the ketubah in a small room, packed with (probably too) many people - their closest family, their parents, their rabbi. Logistically, it was not an ideal moment because it was cramped and warm and didnβt really have the best opportunities for photos. But. It was the moment I remember most vividly from their wedding day because it was full of emotion and excitement between the couple, and between their families, as well.
THE VENUE
Amanda and Jordan got married at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie, NY, but the majority of their formal photographs were taken at the nearby Poughkeepsie Train Station. This is a great backup plan in case of inclement weather, which worked perfectly for this particular wedding day. Because of the rain, they got married inside of the tent, which was then transitioned over for the reception. The tent at The Grandview really is lovely, with its chandeliers and draping to make it look more elegant.
THE DETAILS
Amanda and Jordan chose classic black and white attire for their wedding day, with their wedding party primarily wearing black. Their details were sweet and elegant all around - from the black attire to the light-colored florals to Amandaβs beautiful drop-sleeve lace gown. Except for the funfetti cake. That was elegant and fun.
My personal favorite detail was the chuppah that Amanda and Jordan got married under. Their Jewish ceremony was everything beautiful and important - a special ceremony to really reminisce on.
THE RECEPTION
Amanda and Jordanβs reception felt so exciting, so celebratory. I noticed this often during 2021 weddings - because so many weddings had been put on hold the year before, being able to be together again at a wedding felt like a privilege and a treat.
They danced. They toasted. They took group photos. They enjoyed.
Amanda and Jordanβs wedding was a delight to photograph from beginning to end.
