This blog is a special one because it’s about my family - a brother who is not technically mine but who I consider mine, and his wonderful life teammate.
I’m not sure if Jon knows this, but he is one of my favorite people in the whole world. He is kind, endearing, thoughtful, and a joy to be around. He’s my husband’s younger brother, and the bond that my husband and Jon share is incredibly special. It’s a bond I have always loved because it is just so cute to witness - two buddies who grew up together and love each other in a sweet way that only good brothers can.
When Jon first told me about Jade several years ago, I was thrilled. I felt so special to know about Jon’s new girlfriend, and was so excited to meet her. And now, we’re sisters, and that is even more thrilling. Jade is fun and funny, and just plain good company. I love her dearly.
The Couple
Jon and Jade are the type of people who are comfortable and calm to be around. There are no airs about them - they just show up and spend time, and it’s sweet and easy. You don’t have to be anyone other than who you are around them.
Their lives are cute. They work at a coffee shop and go on walks with their dog (a Boston Terrier named Pablo) and read books and play video games and get tattoos and cuddle with their cats (Kismet and Clementine). Quiet and intentional.
The Venue
Jon and Jade got married right before the pandemic gathering guidelines were becoming less strict, in February 2021. They hosted their wedding at Anthony’s Catering in Hopewell Junction, NY, right next door to a pizzeria - which provided the perfect backdrop for the only photo request Jade asked for: she and Jon eating a slice of pizza in wedding attire.
We took most photos at a nearby recreational area in literally 6 inches of snow that fell the night before.
THE DETAILS
Jon and Jade chose simple gray, white, and blush accents for their wedding. Jade wore jewelry that was rose gold and a dress with blush undertones, and Jon wore a gray suit with a blush floral boutonniere.
Two of my favorite details about Jon and Jade’s wedding were Jon’s wedding ring (a hammered gold ring custom made by King & Curated in Beacon, NY) and the fur stole that Jade wore for photos outside, a family heirloom.
THE RECEPTION
Dancing wasn’t yet allowed when Jon and Jade got married in early 2021, but their reception was sweet - it almost felt like a big family reunion. They shared one first dance as husband and wife, a few toasts were shared, and the rest of the afternoon was spent spending time with family and friends at tables that buzzed with happiness and excitement.
I’m writing this blog on Jade’s 30th birthday (and you’re reading it a few weeks after), and today I texted her to wish her a happy birthday and to let her know I’m so glad we’re sisters.
And I am.
Jon and Jade are some of the most special people in the world to me. It’s a joy and a privilege to live life with them.
FROM THE COUPLE
I've taken a few months (not joking) to try and find the right words to describe the support and expertise that Erica offered for us on our wedding day, and I've finally decided that they don't exist. What Erica offers is so uniquely "Erica" - from the planning process to booking to finding other vendors that would match my personality and needs - and much more. Erica made this experience so much easier (and we all know planning a wedding isn't easy). The depth of her knowledge, experience, and overall support is unmatchable. Erica radiates encouragement, laughter, and happiness and I truly can't imagine having a wedding without her! If you've been thinking about booking her, message her TODAY! People like Erica come along once in a lifetime and having the opportunity to work with her was something I'll never forget. We love you Erica!
