Briarcliff Manor Wedding // Jillian + Nick

I think about Jillian and Nick a lot. About their wedding. Their precious families. Their sense of style. Their amazing wedding day vendor team. I’ve adored Jillian from the moment she stepped out of her car for engagement photos in the fall of 2020 in a bright floral skirt. And I’ve loved Nick with her and for her from that very same moment, as well.

On Jillian and Nick’s wedding day, one of their amazing wedding planners turned to me and said, “Nick just loves her so much.” And he does. It’s so evident that they work so well together - they’re a team. They just make sense.

THE COUPLE

Jillian and Nick met through friends several years ago, and then spent time living in New York City. I am always in awe of people who can live in NYC - they seem so exciting and posh - like there’s something that sparkles about them because they are city dwellers. I especially felt that way about Jillian - her smile lights up every room, and her laughter is infectious. I had the joy of seeing her again at her sister’s wedding in 2022, and at the end of the night, as I was saying my goodbyes, Jillian turned to me and said, “Oh, Erica! I’m so happy you were here!” And it made me feel like her sparkle was rubbing off on me, just a little.

On Jillian and Nick’s wedding day, at their first look, Nick absolutely lit up when he saw Jillian. It was clear that her sparkle had already made its way fully into his heart.

THE VENUE

Jillian and Nick got married at The Briarcliff Manor in Briarcliff, NY. It’s a beautiful estate, with a lovely outdoor ceremony space overlooking the valley and beautiful architectural details both inside and out. Allowing the mansion to serve as the backdrop for so many images was such a fun and different opportunity for photography. While I love me some organic outdoor foliage, having fun architecture and indoor design elements to photograph was something unique and enjoyable.

THE DETAILS

2021 was a good year for blue and pink details, which Jillian and Nick employed. The wedding party wore blush and navy hues, and carried white and pink flowers. Nick’s suit was one of my favorites that year, navy throughout, except for the lapels, which were black. And Jillian’s gown?! I literally could not get over how gorgeous and detailed it was, with all of its beautiful lace and multiple layers.

Everyone also adored Jillian’s headpiece, which was the perfect accessory to top off her look.

THE RECEPTION

Jillian and Nick’s reception was precious and sweet, filled with kind words from the toasts, adoring compliments as Jillian and Nick visited each table, and little dances here and there. My favorite thing about the reception was getting to know Jillian’s family a little bit more - she and her sisters are welcoming and warm. By the end of the night, I wanted to be adopted as the fourth Timmermans sister.

I bumped into Jillian’s sister Kate-Lynn in the restroom towards the end of the wedding day, and we chatted a little. And one thing that Kate-Lynn shared was that she missed this - the little bathroom conversations that we all have at fun gatherings. Because we had spent so much of the previous year isolated, such a small moment like talking to someone in the bathroom felt important and special.

Jillian and Nick’s wedding was the perfect way to usher back in these precious wedding moments that we had missed so much for the previous 365 days.

I feel lucky to have been there. Lucky to have gotten to know Jillian and Nick.

FROM THE COUPLE

It is difficult to describe how AWESOME Erica is! Going into the arduous task of planning a wedding, I knew that the photos were one of the key areas I needed to get right.  My husband and I entrusted Sweet Alice Photography, and from the very beginning knew that we had made the absolute best choice.  Erica is organized, easy to work with, and has INCREDIBLE energy.  She gets the absolute BEST out of her subjects, putting everyone at ease and taking amazing photos that truly capture the spirit of the event.  I could not have asked for better photos and am having a difficult time selecting just a few for the albums! 2020 was a difficult year, but Erica’s flexibility, compassion and periodic check-ins throughout went above and beyond - even offering up her backyard for an elopement ceremony on our original wedding date. Book her! You will not be disappointed!
