There are some people I will drop everything to spend time with - Lauren and Andrew are two of those people. From our first consultation to their most recent maternity session with me (!), I have always known that they are special. Their kindness and warmth flows out of them. Their authenticity and integrity is so incredibly apparent with every interaction had with them. They are honest and funny and dedicated to living a life that feels best to them. They don’t worry about what others tell them they should be doing; they just pay attention to what makes them happy.

I’ve spent so much time with Lauren and Andrew. Consultation and timeline meetings before the wedding. Time spent visiting Lauren’s family’s house just to say hi while planning. An engagement session and dinner spent together in Charleston, NC. A maternity session in New Paltz, NY a few years after their wedding.

By now, they feel like home to me.

THE COUPLE

I’ve already sang Lauren and Andrew’s praises, but I want you to know even more about them. Like so many of my couples, they fit perfectly together. They understand each other’s humor, and always assume the best of each other. They are best friends, and you can feel it when you’re near them. When they got married, all they wanted to do was…get married. There were no exhaustive shot lists, nor super specific things to be photographed. Their dedication to what they wanted documented on their wedding day was their love, and their love only. Their heart was in their marriage before it was even official.

THE VENUE

Lauren and Andrew got married at Diamond Mills in Saugerties, NY. Some of the main draws to this venue are usually the large ballroom, and outdoor ceremony space that overlooks a waterfall. If you’re adventurous, you can also explore the red bridge and cute nearby main street for photos. Lauren and Andrew chose to take the majority of their portraits at Seamon Park, which is a great spot for photos with more greenery. I think it was an excellent choice (as I normally do with greenery - to me, the more greenery, the better).

THE DETAILS

Lauren and Andrew chose gold, blush, and green accents for their summery wedding day. Lauren wore a blush lace and tulle gown, while Andrew wore a dark gray suit with a green tie. While Lauren carried a traditional bouquet of white and blush flowers, her bridesmaids carried gold hoops decorated with the same florals. They brought geometric patterns into some aspects of their wedding, getting married under a hexagonal arch, and employing hexagonal decor on the tables and for their cake (decorated with gold foil - so gorgeous!).

THE RECEPTION

This reception was precious. So many of the people involved in the wedding are no longer local to the Hudson Valley, and so to be together again was so exciting to them. Spending time dancing and celebrating was all they wanted to do.

Lauren and Andrew, I adore you, and just cannot wait until the next time I get to see you (it’s inevitable - I just know it).
