I first met Noelle when I photographed her sister’s wedding a few years prior to her own beautiful little microwedding at the Beatrix Farrand Garden in Hyde Park, NY. It was such a special joy to spend time with her on her gorgeous wedding day, to see her fabulous family again, meet precious Dennis, and document a day that was so perfectly them.
THE COUPLE
Noelle and Dennis are as warm, funny, kind, and easygoing as they come. Working with them was effortless - they are the loveliest of souls, surrounded by other lovely souls. Photographing their microwedding just felt like being at the warmest and sweetest family reunion - like a pure celebration of these families becoming one.
THE VENUE
Noelle and Dennis got married at the Beatrix Farrand Garden, which is on the grounds of the Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site in Hyde Park, NY. It is an excellent place to host a ceremony and photograph subsequent photos. I’ve visited this garden at all times of the year, and it is always beautiful - even when the flowers aren’t blooming, it is still such a quaint and unique space that feels like you’ve been transported back in time.
For Noelle and Dennis’ couple portraits after their adorable ceremony, we spent some time at the Beatrix Farrand Garden, and then took a quick drive up the road to the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site to create a bit more variety (yes, there are a lot of historic sites around here!).
THE DETAILS
Noelle and Dennis chose plum as their main wedding color, with pops of burgundy and pink in their florals to pay homage to their early autumn wedding date. Noelle wore the most beautiful lace gown from BHLDN (a line dear to my heart - I wish it had been more mainstream when I got married, because I’m certain I would have gotten my own gown from there if it had been an option!), and Dennis wore a classic black suit with a bow tie.
Everything felt both whimsical and cohesive, especially considering that where they actually got married felt like a location out of a storybook.
I live close by to the Beatrix Farrand Garden, and every time I pass or visit it, I reminisce on Noelle and Dennis’ gem of a day. I feel grateful to have been there. What a joy.
