Otterkill Country Club Wedding // Lisa + Mike

When I think back on Lisa and Mike’s October Otterkill Country Club wedding, all I remember is vibrancy. Warmth. Excitement. Joy.

Although we were still weathering pandemic requirements, Lisa, Mike, and their guests just exuded happiness at being able to be together. It was a nice day - a warm, beautiful, happy, nice day.

THE COUPLE

When Lisa and Mike filled out my inquiry form, they wrote, “We'd need much more room to tell you how awesome we are ;)” And they were right. They are truly awesome in every way possible. Lisa and Mike got engaged at Disney - which should tell you how adorable and fun-loving they are. They are warm and engaging and funny, and an absolute pleasure to be around. They’re aware of social justice issues, and engage in thoughtful discourse. They’re good souls. Good, good souls.

I had the joy of seeing Lisa and Mike again when photographing Lisa’s sister’s wedding this March, and it was such a heartwarming reunion.

THE VENUE

Lisa and Mike got married at the Country Club at Otterkill on a gorgeous October day - not too cold, not too warm. Their ceremony was held outside under the pine trees, beneath a wooden arch. The Country Club at Otterkill has some of the best outdoor ceremony locations I’ve ever seen, with each option presenting a different yet beautiful location to exchange your vows.

Although I didn’t spend much time at this darling couple’s reception (#pandemic), in addition to this venue having gorgeous ceremony options, it also has one of the prettiest reception rooms. It’s bright, airy, and just feels clean. 😍

THE DETAILS

Lisa and Mike chose autumnal shades to compliment their October wedding day. Their florals were a combination of whites and reds, while their wedding party wore burgundy. The wooden farm tables in the reception room were decorated with those fall florals, as well as burgundy napkins and large white candles with gold pedestal candlesticks. Everything felt like it belonged together - even the cake that featured a lego couple as the topper.

THE RECEPTION

I didn’t photograph the entirety of Lisa and Mike’s wedding (there’s only so many photos you can take when dancing isn’t allowed), but what I did get to capture was the two of them at their head table, elated, together.

And I think that captured just enough.

When I remember this day, I remember twirling in front of a warm sunset, a lot of giggles, a lot of kindness, a lot of just pure goodness.

It was the most precious. I would go back to this wedding over and over if I could.

FROM THE COUPLE

We couldn’t be happier that we had Erica take pictures for our wedding day. This year was rough with having to change our plans due to COVID, and Erica made the process of making changes easy, and we appreciated the open communication and how accommodating Erica was. She listened carefully to what we wanted from our pictures, and went above and beyond to make everything perfect. Her talent, enthusiasm, and sweet nature made standing for pictures enjoyable with an end result that is nothing but perfection. Thank you, Sweet Alice, for giving us something beautiful to always remember our day.
