I have a photographic memory when it comes to the first time I meet my couples. They’re often on Zoom, sitting in their cute living rooms, cuddled up next to each other. And, this is how I met Paula and Andrew; we were across the internet, but immediately felt so connected that Paula teared up when talking about us being able to work together for her Hollow Brook Golf Club wedding.
Paula is so dear that she sent me a little box of gifts before her wedding - how precious and thoughtful is she?!
THE COUPLE
Paula and Andrew met on Bumble, and are both teachers. They are the most amazing pair, enhancing what each one naturally brings to the table - Paula’s fun-loving personality and Andrew’s steadfastness. Nerves are normal on any given wedding day, but I remember flowing through Paula and Andrew’s day with ease, not picking up on any anxiety at all. They were ready to get married, and just purely in love and excited.
My favorite time spent with them was during golden hour. Hollow Brook often has the most gorgeous sunsets, and this time of day was just perfection on Paula and Andrew’s wedding day. We got to really relax into these photos, and allow for playfulness since all of the more formal pictures had already been taken care of.
THE VENUE
Hollow Brook Golf Club in Cortlandt, NY, is one of my very favorite places to photograph weddings. I spend a lot of weekends there, and every wedding hosted at this venue is expertly coordinated while also still maintaining each couple’s individuality. The grounds are large, with ample options for photos, and so no two galleries are the same. The ceremony space is a perfect indoor/outdoor option, and the reception room is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, created to be rustic and homey while still being comfortable for guests.
You can’t go wrong getting married here. It’s just the most wonderful location.
THE DETAILS
Paula and Andrew leaned into a rustic but elegant theme for their wedding day, decorating with small white pumpkins, greenery, and touches of gold. They opted for pink and white florals, and their wedding party wore gray and dusty rose.
Paula is close with her dad, and had the most adorable first look with him prior to seeing Andrew for the first time that day. I know that so many wedding blogs focus on the aesthetic details, but I find that the relational and people-focused details are so much more important and meaningful.
THE RECEPTION
The dance floor at Paula and Andrew’s wedding was packed as soon as it opened, guests enveloping the couple with love and celebration. It was a joy to witness.
Oh, Paula and Andrew, how could I ever truly capture you with words? You are darling and wonderful in every way possible, and your wedding was a dream.
