I wish I could collect all of my wedding day memories in jars or books, and take them off the shelves when I want to breathe in their essence again.
Pictures are meaningful because this is what they capture. No, you can’t smell them, but you can feel their essence. Thank God for that.
When I look back at these photographs, I think of Jeff’s smile when he first saw Sam; I think of Sam’s tears when she opened her gift from Jeff; I think of Jeff turning to Sam and saying, “I don’t think it’ll work out, bud,” when we realized we couldn’t do the traditional red bridge shot near the venue because the Garlic Festival (THE GARLIC FESTIVAL) was in town, and the traffic was too constant. I think of their happy bridesman. I think of their ease with each other. I think in terms of blue and green September hues.
Jeff + Sam, thank you for forever giving me the honor of taking these little memories off the shelf, when I need a little pick me up. You are special. The specialest ever.
